The implication of earthmoving is that you will like need to get rid of some dirt. (I’ve only just had another offer of 4m3 of dirt that a client wanted to get rid of.) Not only is U Kanga Do It not equipped to deal with finding a place for dirt, but it is a rare occasion when one persons extra is another persons need! So whilst it may be obvious for some, here are a few simple thoughts on the matter.
Earthmoving my dirt to…..?!
The most obvious solution to most situations is a skip bin. These are especially good when you want to shift ‘general waste’. This includes a mixture of everything you will most likely find in your backyard. (minus asbestos!) This ranges from clean fill dirt to old pavers or concrete and everything in between. It is hard to beat the convenience and cost of a skip on these occasions. There are many companies to choose from but I always use Darren from Jims skips who works with a couple of other quality operators namely Lachey from Green Bins (skip pictured). Even if you think you want to save on a skip by carting it with a trailer and unloading yourself, the waste transfer fee will soon add up. Not only that, but the amount of extra dirt usually means allot of time and shoveling!
On the occasion when you have clean fill you can entertain the following option; Need Dirt. Yep, that is the name of a forum where you can either list your excess dirt/rubble/clean fill, or put a wanted ad if you…need dirt! Take a look at their site and register yourself if you are wanting to get or give dirt…at no cost.
Whatever the case, your earthmoving will probably mean extra dirt. Between skips, need dirt, or the ‘ol trailer to the dump, you’ve about cut out your main options! All the best in your next project. Remember, ‘no mess, no progress’!
