Mini Digger goes deep for shed footings.

Is it possible for a mini digger to take on the task of boring your shed footings?  This post wouldn’t be too long if the answer wasn’t in the affirmative!  So yes, it can!  (Enough said?)  However, for those of you who do phone us with this very question, here are some more facts to give you confidence in the mini diggers capacity for such a task.

The standard specifications for shed footings on a carport size shed come well within the mini diggers capacity.  450mm is the diameter needed and we have the auger and power to suit.  The next question is ‘how deep’. That depends on your site and engineers specifications.  However, I recently had a job that required holes that were 1.8 meters deep.  If that doesn’t sound like a big deal then try digging that depth by hand or stand over that hole! (see picture below)  It does feel like every boy’s dream and attempt to dig their way to china!  Whilst the standard auger length for our 450mm auger is 850mm, we have an extension bar which adds a further 900mm (pictured).  I’m yet to come across a job that has required deeper holes, so you should be able to assume that our mini digger is more than capable of your shed footing job!  It is worth nothing that all augers don’t agree well with rock and ours is no exception.  Most often you only find this out as you go down.

As per usual, take the time to dial before you dig to make sure that you don’t pick up water, power or gas on your shortcut to China.
